Degree Requirements

The Carlson School's undergraduate program offers an intensive course of study that leads to the Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) degree. In addition to providing a comprehensive understanding of the entire business enterprise, 10 majors and 9 minors let students explore specific fields in greater depth.

The faculty conducted an extensive review of the degree requirements during the 2006-2007 academic year, and the specific major requirements in 2007-2008. Beginning in the 2008-09 academic year, students entering the program will be held to new degree requirements. Four key signature experiences will be part of the new requirements, including a contemporary management course for freshmen, an immersion core set of classes during the sophomore year, a mandatory international experience, and a capstone experience at the end of each major.

During spring semester of sophomore year, students will enroll in the Immersion Core, or I-Core, as a block of four courses. The I-Core will immerse students into four of the most basic functions of all organizations.

An international experience is completed at some point during the student’s program. The timing of the student’s international experience is dependent upon their individual graduation plan and may range from a 2-week global enrichment course to a semester length exchange program.
